Young teenager Josie grows up in a house where the door is never locked, with a lively family. There is always noise, banging on the doors, the television and a big brother who comes to tease her. She herself does not like crowds or noise at all. Then, when she happens to be home alone for the first day, she cautiously looks around with new eyes. Finally she has everything to herself. But perhaps it is very quiet now after all. The title of this debut is Swahili for "silence".
